What’s your favorite book in the series? I m currently reading God Emperor and it’s very interesting seeing the Atredies path taken to its logical conclusion. I really like Children of Dune as well. What do y’all think?

The first book is by far the best.

God Emperor is by far my least favorite.

I actually like 5 and 6 maybe second best. I definitely enjoyed them more on reread than 2 and 3.

I've only read the first 2. Heard they fell off pretty hard after that and never read the rest

100% agree.

It sucks and it is where the series really goes off the rails on a mix of LSD, X, and some kind of fish paralyzer. And the next two books follow up on the fricked up universe set up by God Emperor.

The third book, Children of Dune, has issues but at least it has a plot arc going back to the two prior books.

Everything from God Emperor on is either a massive time skip or was written by Frank’s kid and Kevin J Anderson based on notes reading “write more Dune books.”

God Emperor is my favorite.

My first read through of the series, I didn't really like it. I guess its because it is so different from the first three.

It wasn't until subsequent reads that I realized how profound the book is. And how its the nexus of the Dune universe.

Everything before it leads up to Leto II's reign. The books afterwards are the result of his Golden Path, and what it means for Humanity.

Leto and Siona in the desert is one of my favorite parts.

Yes, it’s two trilogies separated by a bridge novel.
Unfortunately Frank died.
