Biggest question is how does LSU navigate NIL with Kelly moving forward.

I believe this is the biggest thing for success moving forward. It's an unregulated way to legally cheat in NCAA right now and is arguably ruining the league. It's unquestionable the university that can navigate this to their advantages will be the bread winners when it comes championship time. Universities like TAMU are already funneling their rich oil money boosters into "NIL benefits" and universities like Bama/Georgia/Ohio State are plucking star players from bad teams(like Ricks from us).

Does this put LSU at a disadvantage? How do we gain the NIL advantage? We're not a big state with lots of opportunity on the back end to create massive marketing deals. I think this means maintaining a strong national brand is more important than ever as it could help funnel these huge marketing deals to players. How do you manage money to the team when it can cause tension like we already saw with Ricks not being happy he was passed over Stingley for money?

Like it or not it's part of the game now and mastering it is more important than ever.

No differently than they would with any other coach. No P5 coach in their right mind would get in the way of their own players and NIL money.

Ricks could choose to exit the portal now

Yeah but how do you bend this to make every player on the team happy? Can we sit in bidding wars for players at richer universities like TAMU/Texas? I still can't believe this stuff went unrestricted by the NCAA. You can literally buy your championship legally right now. Between that and the transfer portal it is completely ruining the college landscape. Don't like your first year at a university? No problem you can just go straight to the league rival who's in the NC game promising you a 1 million NIL deal to transfer. Utter bullshite.

Money will cause a divide on your team as you already saw it do with Ricks. It's going to create divas so this makes the recruiting aspect of identifying star players who are higher in character more important? IDK. Just seems like an unnecessary headache. It's going to be a bigger problem for Louisiana prospects too because Louisiana as a whole is a poor state and if you're promising poor kids the world when it comes to money can you really blame them for not taking an opportunity?

One of the things that may be an issue for an older coach as opposed to hiring a young up and comer

Isn’t all of this Stephanie rempe’s job? We need a separate department for this shite.
BK’s attention needs to be focused on coaching

They pay people in the program a lot of money to deal with these things, I would bet someone like Austin Thomas for example. Does he need to know the game? Yes. But at the end of the day his focus will be on winning football games and having his team in the best position to win.

I'm not sure how LSU is going to handle this that's why I'm asking. It would seem like it would need something separate like a marketing department because it's something rather big to look at right now to gain an advantage in NCAA.

I'm sure Kelly will have some input on this as to how he thinks it might work best for the university. I don't think they'd just go over his head with NIL even if he's not directly responsible for it.

Pretty sure Woodward indicated NIL was going to be a large component of this hire. I've no doubt they talked extensively about how to best position LSU players for NIL.

Neither Woodward nor Kelly strike me as stones left unturned guys.

I mean I agree. I’m just not sure what BK can do other than vouch for a kid? He can’t start a player just so they get more exposure to get a walk ons deal..

I know part of Rempe’s title involves NIL.

I think it’ll have to be a separate department/entity that the players report to with their concerns. Not the head coach.

how most coaches have a shadow staff, there needs to be a shadow staff to deal with NIL. Help them build their brand and look for creative avenues to get sponsored
