Sounds like the neighbor Mom's kid is what got the kid to go outside in the first place. Also there are probably a lot of 14 year old's that unfortunately have a kid of their own. Is that a crime with them watching their own kid?

While my Dad was on TDY. Mom managed the two movie theaters in Clovis, NM. The three of us left home alone until 10PM when the theaters closed. As the oldest ..10, 7 and 4 we cooked, cleaned house and had everything set when Mom walked in the door.

Damn, my Mom should have been in prison.

Stupid world we live in. My mom died when I was 6 and my brother 13. My brother watch me kind of and I took care of myself. Had neighbors that weren’t far in case something happened. I was getting myself off to school when I was 6. Never at a moment felt neglected then or now by my Dad. He did what he had to do. We helped by not being trouble making shite heads.

if the mom’s name was Laqweesha or Chimmichanga she would be hailed as a hero for working hard to provide for her kids.

I remember two neighbor kids being left home, both younger than 14, and one of them fell in the house and got hurt.

They had my mom’s number and I’m sure the numbers of most every other mom in the neighborhood. They were taken care of with a quickness.

Neighbor lady is an a-hole. Shouldn’t have called the cops and should have been looking out for the single mom with five kids in the first place.

This is incompetence at one level but the mom and kids are not to blame

If anything it should have been a summons and let the judge settle it

There are some 14 year olds out there that are better at parenting/babysitting then some parents. Give her a break!

I can’t relate to shite like this. I watched myself by the time I was 10 or so. My parents would leave a list full of outdoor chores and when I was finished I’d wander down the street to see if anyone was around to play basketball.

So the government closed down the day care and the schools, waited months to send out the first $1200 relief check, and now they want to prosecute someone for going to work?

So instead of calling the kid’s house or mom, the friend’s mom calls the police???

What a bitch…

And, for real, not guilty. 14 is fine to babysit siblings.

I met my 3 younger siblings at the bus stop and watched them until our parents got home from work. At 14. It was pretty common in the 80s latch key kid days.
