We've got a trip in mid-March with a couple of families with kids (6 to > 1 yr, but most preschool/toddler) to San Antonio.

I know there is lots to do in San Antonio, but I wasn't sure how much younger kids would enjoy all of it. I'd like to know what others think about places like Sea World, Lego Land, The Riverwalk area, etc. as entertainment for smaller kids.

Some suggestions for good places to eat that can easily accommodate a couple of young families like this would also be appreciated. I am personally looking forward to some good Texas BBQ.

Thanks for the help!

Boat ride at the Riverwalk is good for kids although it's really just a canal at best. Food down there is overpriced at best, tourist shakedown.

Mi Tierra can accommodate a group and it's not far from the Riverwalk. They're a bakery too for the kids.

Lots of great food options at the Pearl complex, used to be Pearl brewery now converted into a retail complex. Water fountains and stuff for kids to play in.

Sea World is good. Six Flags Fiesta. There's an amusement park catering to smaller children called Morgan's Wonderland.

Not any good BBQ on the Riverwalk that I know of. A couple good places are Smoke, Two Bros BBQ Market, Blackboard, Alamo BBQ Co...not near the real Alamo. Btw, if you've never been to the Alamo don't bother. It's super boring no matter your age.

Thanks!

Which one of those BBQ places has the best brisket in your opinion? That's my favorite thing to order.

I appreciate the warning, but I do think we'll end up going to the Alamo because others have mentioned it already. I was hopeful I could find an audio tour that might make it more enjoyable.

I figured walking around the Alamo is mostly free, but might not be entertaining for smaller kids...Are there any free or low cost things to go to or do with little kids?

Last time we went was without kids, but we went to the Japanese Tea Garden. It was a really cool place and I think kids would like the scenery, there were a ton of kids there on the Sat afternoon we went. It's free.

The Alamo is something to see. Most of the complex is outdoors and the kids might get a kick out of seeing the big statues and the weaponry. There is an audio tour you can get, but I've never done it.

The kids might like the caverns, and of course they have a good zoo.

As far as food, Mi Tierra for sure.

Pinkertons just opened a second location in San Antone. The original in Houston is really great so I imagine that one would be too.

The San Antonio Zoo is a great zoo. Natural Bridge Caverns could be neat depending on ages and interests.

Six Flags and Sea World.

There’s a Rainforest Cafe on the riverwalk.

And…There’s Andretti Cart Racing and IFly indoor skydiving. I’m sure your kids are too young, but staying it for any other reader.

Just took our two boys there (7/6), def recommend Seaworld and Six flags. The riverwalk was OK at best, good if you are just wanting to waste time. I do not recommend legoland, thats $100 you will never get back. Pretty much 2 rooms, 1 set up as a city and the other is a room with legos thrown around and people letting their kids act the arse.

Check out San Pedro Springs Park. Huge park close to downtown, has a clear cool natural spring and the city made a natural springs swimming pool out of it. Great park and place for kids to romp and tire themselves.

Check out the "doseum"- its a children's museum with a ton of interactive exhibits. The wife and I had as much fun as the kids. It's also very close to the zoo, which is probably one of the better zoo's I've been to.

Completely disagree about the Alamo. Maybe it's not what you expect, but I didn't think it was boring. It's just that it's not been taking and turned into some major thing with a movie and special effects to put you into the battle.

It's still very much what it was. You need to know a little history and then imagine how the people lived in the Missions. Yes, boring for little kids. But they can play in the courtyard.

Sea World is really good for little kids. They have stuff for all ages.

Morgan's Wonderland is very cool. It's doesn't cater to small children. It is 100% accessible to those with disabilities. It is the first theme park designed this way.

Get breakfast tacos somewhere. Almost any place will be good, if that's their specialty. Taco Taco and Rolando's are more well known, but a taco joint isn't going to stay in business in SA unless it's good.

The boat ride on the Riverwalk will be fun for little kids. It's got lots of cheesy commentary and isn't that long.

Brackenridge Park is big and has quite a bit for little kids. They have a train ride through the park and also the San Antonio Zoo. There's a Japanese Tea Garden you could walk through. It's also not far from downtown and the Riverwalk area.

Very grateful for all of the detailed information from everyone.

Those city parks sound great and I'm glad they have some nice free stuff to do too.

The Doseum was something that sounded interesting, but wasn't sure about. I'm going to petition we go there a little more now knowing it was a fun time.

I'm not a big breakfast person, but I'll certainly make an exception for a good breakfast taco.

Seems like we'll have lots to choose from to do. Getting excited for a great trip
