Not named Wade that brought in 3-5* and 1-4* in one recruiting year. That would be NEVER and it won’t happen anytime soon or ever again for that matter. Next year could have been epic. Oh well back to the JJ days for the foreseeable future.

There is probably some Coach between Wade and JJ

Well if Wade didn't write personal checks and use LSU-issued phones to bring these guys in...

Brady was close in 2003 with Bass and Koundjia but Koundjia wasn’t that great and transferred. Tack was a 4 star and well, Tack.
Johnny brought in Ben, Blakeney and Sampson and couldn’t even make the NIT

Agreed. Due to the forthcoming probation that Wade has caused by illegal recruitment of blue chip recruits

Excellent. His recruiting for this season brought in a SEC quarterfinal exit with a third straight loss to the same team, while also losing a ton of games the opponent had no business winning.

Name the last LSU basketball coach who got caught on a federal wire tap trying to purchase 4&5 star recruits?

frick em, he’s gone and embarrassed LSU in the process. Time to move on

2015 recruiting class:
Ben Simmons - 5 star, #1 overall
Antonio Blakeney - 5 star, #16 overall
Brandon Sampson - 4 star, #56 overall
2013 recruiting class:
Jarell Martin - 5 star, # 12 overall
Jordan Mickey - 4 star, #37 overall
Tim Quartemann - 4 star, #71 overall
Trent Johnson is the only coach in the last 50 years to not bring in big time talent to LSU and that’s only because he made no attempt to recruit good players.

And no one thinks anyone of these big name players in 2013-2015 were PAID to play at LSU??.. LMAOOOOO ..

They is the funny part, JJ’s problem wasn’t recruiting, he had some good classes (let’s not forget JJ’s role on Brown’s staff).
Wade recruited really well, but it wasn’t unheard of for LSU to have multiple 4 and 5 stars in a class.

6 seed bitch. And 4 straight tourney teams. Look at Baylor and Auburn this year. It's college basketball... teams lose to shitty teams they have mo business losing to

I don’t understand the mentality of this board. It doesn’t have to be recruit from the band or hire someone who will arrogantly cheat his arse off just to be competitive.
There are lots of good coaches who can put a good team on the floor without being a damn target of the ncaa and fbi
I liked Wade and wished he would’ve been smarter, but I can also admit he’s not some great tactician of a coach.
By his own admission, he did a poor job of roster construction the last couple of years.
Point is he’s not some irreplaceable elite coach.
And again I loved the guy and it’s a damn shame he didn’t cover his tracks
Good news is that a good AD should be able to find a good coach from the mid majors who would be willing to come here even under the circumstances.
And yes I realize going to the tournament is something we’ve rarely done consistently but that’s not exactly a high bar if we are honest
It’s not unreasonable to think we could find someone else to at least get us to the tournament consistently

So, we fire Wade and now you’re a fan of his?

Name the last time the DOJ decided to investigate college basketball recruiting? His firing is the biggest fallout of an otherwise COMPLETELY USELESS criminal investigation. What coach could ever anticipate the FBI would have so little to do that it would wiretap college basketball recruiting conversations? And if you don't think EVERY 4&5 star player isn't bought and paid for I'd love to live in the idealistic world of make believe you (and apparently others) reside in.
But, alas, Wade was caught and LSU decided to end his employment at the basketball coach. That is their prerogative. But just know, the "cheating" won't stop (and it never has). So when you watch Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, etc, etc, etc, keep in mind most of the players wearing their uniforms will be "purchased". Especially all of those fans on their moral high ground clamoring for a "clean" coach. You may get one. But don't complain when they are routinely finishing at the bottom of the SEC and rarely, if ever in contention for the NCAA Tournament. Because winning isn't the only thing, right? Great men of character who have career .300 winning % are in high demand.
Wade was talking to the wrong guy at the wrong time. He'll be prohibited from coaching for a bit and then resurface. Just like Bruce Pearl, and John Calipari, and Kelvin Sampson, and Eddie Sutton, and on and on. All while LSU may return to the abyss of below average basketball for 3 more decades.

Dude, lighten up. Basketball is a GAME that's supposed to be for our entertainment. Are you not entertained?

Let’s just ignore the fact that the way he was able to bring them on is exactly why LSU got the NOA and why he’s been fired.

Nothing to "lighten up" about. Just providing a counterargument to the hundreds of new "basketball fans" who, despite not paying attention all season, are suddenly outraged a coach would "cheat" to get players.
And for what it is worth, I HAVE been entertained over the last 5 years. It sure as hell was better than watching nearly 30 years of more last place finishes than NCAA Tournament appearances.
