They do this because they can. Those who they are catering to may be the minority, but they are loud, and the majority either doesn’t care enough to change their purchasing practices or they are influenced by the vocal minority (not wanting to have anyone think they are racists, homophobes, transphobes, etc) so that they go along.
Companies do this because it (usually) makes financial sense for them to do it.

This is a pretty good summation but I think it mostly has to do with the emboldened parts.
Conservatives want so badly for people to care about this shite, especially other conservatives and by and large, they just won't.
Nabisco or whoever the parent company is knows what it's doing. There's no go woke go broke with any of this shite.

As of yet, this is not true for the VAST majority on The Right. I wish it was, but it isn't.
Regardless of how much many, even here, complain about the things these woke arse corporations do, almost none of them put for any effort to stop funding them. Complaining about them does nothing.
Oh...there will be a few days of scathing commentary on this ad and how Oreo (NABISCO in this case) is woke as frick, but by next week almost none of the people complaining will stop buying Oreos or NABISCO products.
What these companies are doing is eating their cake and having it too, because The Right refuses to make them pay for these actions. They get to virtue signal to The Left with this stuff and do so knowing it costs them nothing, because The Right will not en masse change their buying habits.
