That was covered in the women's thread. But she ruled out South Carolina as well. Apparently 3 schools near home in North Carolina.

In any case, 2 good things:
1) She didn't go to a rival, so good there.
2) I don't mind losing a recruit to obvious ties elsewhere... can't win them all and it spreads the wealth.

Not a loss, but YES, we do have to start winning some. But the transfer portal will be big and LSU has a strong NIL program for women. Best in the country. The men are working on building that too.

From on3’s Joe Tipton:

quote:

UTSA guard Jordan Ivy-Curry tells @On3sports he will submit the paperwork in order to enter the transfer portal later today.

The Texas native averaged 17.1 PPG this season.

Add Penn State, LSU, Seton Hall, and Texas A&M to the list of schools that have contacted UTSA transfer Jordan Ivy-Curry.

Louisiana 6’7 Junior Joe Charles Jr plans to enter the transfer portal a source tells @madehoops Averaged 11.3 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.1 APG. 44/34/78 splits with 1.1 BPG and 1.8 SPG Solid athlete with great length, perimeter defensive abilities and plays with a very high motor @iamjoecharles1

Based on McMahon‘s Louisiana strategy in the portal last year, would expect him to take a good look at this one

DJ Burns from Youngstown state is in the portal. He'd be a sixth year transfers. Notable as he is from New Orleans and also played at Murray State under McMahon. Averaged 13 points a game at YSU.

I can't imagine he'd be any more than a depth piece here, but I wonder if we go after him.

That leaves us with one spot to sign a veteran center

Maxime Raynaud, 7'1-240lb JR F/C from Stanford hit the portal. A nice upgrade inside, outside, and rebounding from Baker/Dean and similar to KJ. 16 & 10, 36% from 3. Would love for LSU to push hard for him but he will have a ton of interest from others.

Also like Michael Ajayi, 6'7-220 JR G from Pepperdine as a replacement for either Wright or Hannible. Avg 17pts & 10 reb while shooting 47% from 3.

Amaree Abram (PG) So. Georgia Tech just entered the portal. He's from Texas and, if I recall correctly, was someone LSU recruited hard when he entered the portal from Ole Miss last offseason.

He had a solid freshman year at Ole Miss. He was thought to be one of Georgia Tech's highest rated transfers. Yet, he only played in 10 games this year. I'm not sure if that was because of injury, or just disconnect with the coaching staff. But given LSU needs a PG and they pushed for him last season, it could be a name to watch.

Kansas State Guard Cam Carter entered the portal.

Averages 15/5/3

I wouldn't be surprised if he's towards the top of McMahon's portal wants. He's one of our own from Donaldsonville LA so hopefully he comes back home. These are the type of players we need.

I respectfully disagree on Cam Carter regardless of the home state ties. He's a black hole, shoots too much and NOT a good shooter (38% FG / 31% 3Pt pretty much over 3 years of the same), doesn't distribute the ball much and turns it over quite a bit without making up for it in steals.

We can do much better than this.

Dwon Odom

6'2" pg, 5th year player, 11.8 ppg, 5 rpg, 4.6 apg

Souting report out of hs sounds real familiar.
quote:

Built like a running back and extremely athletic. A high riser with strength and quickness. Tremendous penetrator who excels at finishing in the lane and can also find teammates. Not a good 3-point shooter, and has a herky-jerky release. Potential to be an elite defender. Could have better rebounding numbers. Should develop into an NBA draft choice.

It was fun to watch Hannibal play. And he was a nice sub. But when you have limited roster spot available a PG who can’t shoot is not the way to go beyond irrelevant tournament games in front of 57 people

It would depend on how ready Curtis Givens is. If he can be ready year 1 you might accept a Trae Hannibal clone to back him up. But yes, he is just an interesting option early in the process. Still looking for the tall pg who can pass like Magic and shoot like Curry.
