Go to a couple games a year and pretty much watch them all . Never really played attention in the outfield but see the numerous signs . What the heck is the big black square actually there for ?

The same reason every park has a batter’s eye. It’s meant to be the backdrop behind a pitchers release point so that the sky (clouds) don’t hide the ball. Hitting is hard enough as it is.

It's the batter's eye; it's there to provide contrast against the white of the baseball so the batter can pick up the ball more easily

It is pretty racist that the balls are ALWAYS “White” & the Batters Eye is ALWAYS Black. Huh?

You got me there. The season is still a puppy as was evidence last season. It's how you finish. People that watch baseball know that.

Why the fricking frick that the University of Louisiana State University Athletic Department can't construct a solid Batters Eye out of some kind of hard material is totally beyond me.

While i think our batters eye is high school level looking, how does someone not know what it is for. If you have watched any level of baseball from high school up they have them. You been under a rock man?

NO kidding and put the camera booth inside of it, do like i think its MSU, they have a solid batters eye that is also a storage unit for all there pregame equipment. Also bull pens to left and right center field with see through fencing, a berm or concourse behind them with concessions and beer stands, beer needs to be half the price it is minimum, and chair backs all the way around instead of bleachers. We have been surpassed by miles by other universities in baseball facilities.
