Looking to get out crabbing - nets and strings (no boat). Likely out on some of the ditches near the lake on the northshore/lake road.

Hoping the OB can help with some tips on what conditions should we look for to figure out a day to go out? Thinking about water levels, recent rains, temps, time of year, etc.
Recent reports also appreciated!

Whoever abandoned all the traps between the causeway and the Tchefuncte River is a special kind of asshoe. There are well over 100 traps scattered and they’ve moved all around to make that area a underwater mine field.

Me and some buddy’s looking at going first thing in the morning, possibly Bayou Lacombe. My brother went last weekend and caught 2 dozen off chicken and a string, they were small, but edible.

I’ve been told that if you can walk near the spillway in between Laplace and Norco off of Airline Hwy, there is an abundance of crabs. I’ve never done it, but it’s apparently worth it.. If you find a spot let me know how it works for you!
