Why do we ever give up Tiger stadium for a “neutral” site. Forgive me for my ignorance!

New Orleans is also a recruiting mecca. Gonna be some studs with free tickets for the Moms and Pops. Frank don't sleep.

Gives us fans outside of LA more opportunities to see the Tigers.

I can see the Tigers better at home.
I can’t experience the campus and TS in an NFL city and stadium.

A lot of P5 teams from other conferences don’t want to do home and homes when they can do one neutral site game, usually for more money. If you want some premiere OOC games, neutral site games are part of the deal.

These games also do help with recruiting. It’s easy to sell additional trips and prestige matchups to recruits. Getting a game on a Sunday or Monday where you are the only matchup gets attention.

There’s just too many positives to ignore with these games.

True. But would you rather watch LSU vs. Florida State in New Orleans on tv or LSU vs. McNeese at home? People think we’ve chosen to play FSU in New Orleans and Orlando rather than in Tiger Stadium and Doak Campbell. But the reality is these games probably don’t get played at all if not at neutral sites.

It’s in New Orleans. Don’t be dramatic.

I am not sure that’s true. Most teams schedule one marquee OOC game. Doesn’t have to be neutral.

But if true, I don’t care that much when it comes right down to it. It’s not like we are playing Clemson’s schedule so there are enough good ones.

Neutral site games are awesome, IMO. I will say Orlando 2023 will be the first LSU neutral site game I will miss. Am looking forward to Las Vegas 2024 in the game versus SoCal.

My understanding is the kids really like these games especially in NFL venues.

I want NDame in Soldier Field and Michigan in ATL.

They aren’t “kids.” They are professionals.
I no longer care what they like.

Neutral site games at beginning of season are getting more and more common. Great for fans and easier to get good matchups that may have not happened. And $$$.

I don't know much but this is my best guess. Fans and probably schools and players would rather have games on campus for the college GameDay atmosphere. But it comes down to the money for the effort. Each team gets equal $ and more $ than a single home game + schools don't have to pay security, concessions, janitorial, etc, etc that goes into a gameday on campus. Not to mention whatever insurance they have to purchase having a game on campus in stadium. Just a guess.
These games could be played on campus but sponsors pony up the easy $.
