Of all the critters I’ve skinned, a mink stunk the worst. Never tried a skunk, though. He’s probably worse.

I was thinking that, as well. If you get another predator, you might consider putting some wire in the ground under that 2x4. 4”-6” deep all the way around, stapling it to the 2x4. A coon will dig enough of a hole to squeeze in.

Got another mink on the loose boys, he killed all 10 of my chickens Saturday night. I put a bass in the trap lastnight and that sneaky sumbitch got in there and snatched it too. Going to tie the next one to the back of the trap so he has to work for it.

This has been an enjoyable thread to read, but sorry about your birds. I went through hell keeping my first couple alive but haven’t lost one in a couple years. I put a camera out and found out a fox was giving them hell…until he wasn’t. And my lab killed a couple too. He had a blast chasing them and destroying them.

You should go to the feed store and get a couple chicks to put in the trap

Have you tried a conibear 120 in the end of a pipe? The good thing with those is you can still bait with a fish but you can submerge the whole thing if you know where he is coming from a pond/ditch.
