The ideal case was probably to co-exist with the tour and maximize the players in LIV while the players would gain OWGR points in the tour. I’m sure they also thought this ideal case wasn’t that likely.
They wouldn't have coexisted for long. Once LIV got a foothold they were going to break the PGAT. PGAT was smart enough to see that lie from the beginning.

You repeating it doesn't make it any less false. You've conveniently ignored every time, but again, the PGA Tour Commissioner declared the league "dead" in February. It wasn't foresight to not work with them it was negligence and hubris that they were untouchable

It’s kinda wild to me now the Conservative party is now the:
“You know, those Muslims ain’t that bad. Are we really better? You know we had the crusades and stuff so I really can’t blame them….”
Yep, the same people that were all for W's crusade against the "Axis of Evil", are now ok with the Saudis government taking over professional golf. If this would have happened 15 years ago, they would probably be livid.

Right now 65 players will miss the cut @ -1 or worse. Right now the worst score is +16 and he still has 7 holes to play.

Love the Cut.
No drama in those other exhibitions.

How many shots from guys on the cut line do you see on a week to week basis?

The XFL and AFL had proof of concept and significant revenue?
Homie, both of those had less than 1/10th the funding LIV has gotten and already had a TV contract in hand, so try again. Not remotely comparable.

The point I'm making is spending a couple of billion isn't really that big of a deal in either business or live sports. Are the mechanics the exact same? Of course, not, I assumed any one with a brain would assume that, and that's on me. I forget you have to spell everything out like you are talking to a toddler on this site.
Billions without an EBITDA or revenue multiple is effectively unheard of in private businesses. Again, you're talking out of your arse on this one.
You should try going to Andreessen or Kleiner Perkins with some brilliant idea without a proven business model and see how it goes.

Are the Saudis and the PIF in a unique situation, again, of course and because they're funding the entire league it's not completely apples to apples, but I assumed you all could use deductive reasoning
No fricking shite, and that was my point the whole time. This isn't a normal investment. This is a state-funded "infrastructure" program a la building a port or an airport or a state-ran news media, not a market-funded start up.

Stewing on a three down old post on a Friday night is a serious melt.
And jumping around on your arguement like 3 times in one post is something I would expect from the nursing home crew. Tough scene for you

Some of us have big boy jobs with real responsibilities. I don't think your cashier job at the local Jiffy Lube that gives you all this time to post on here should be something to be proud of, but you do you.

I played in a scramble this morning. We won, of course. Sorry you are stuck being a desk jockey

Some of us are retired with multiple sources of income enjoying a very comfortable lifestyle. I see he got a promotion from the clerk job at 7 - 11.

Jealous of you. I have 20 years of work left. The lifestyle is pretty good though.
