I doubt Mickelson wants to go through discovery.

The Saudis are paying the legal fees for players in the lawsuit, so fat(er) Phil was a named plaintiff simply to generate attention to the lawsuit. I'm sure the Saudis and Mickelson always intended he would drop out before discovery commenced.

Fat(er) Phil doesn't want anything to do with legal discovery. His business, gambling and personal shenanigans would attract massive amounts of attention and scrutiny from sponsors, the public, and government agencies (SEC, IRS, etc.).

His warts are showing.

Why would that information be discoverable in this case?

The entire premise of this nonsense is if the PGA has a right to make a bunch of guys hit golf balls at the John Deere Classic in BFE Moline, Illinois or can they go make money elsewhere? No doubt the PGA is uneasy at some competition.

It’s a pretty easy solution.

Nobody worth a shite, as far as marketability, wants to play in some crap arse tournament on the PGA tour when they can make 10x at other destinations. And it’s actually fun for them.

The allegations are breach of contract by the PGA and the PGA acting as a monopoly. How would asking questions about Mickelsons gambling and infidelity lead to evidence that is relevant to those claims? The PGA doesn’t just get to go into anything they want.

Then go to LIV. They have the option to do so.

It comical that people want to paint the PGA Tour as the Villian.

The Tour isn't stopping anyone from going to LIV.

They only said that the Tour is moving on with the Players that want to be there .

They have the right to protect the brand and not corrupt the fields. So yeah, Players are not going to jump back and forth.

The Tour said that player have to play 15 events to retain their cards. No one has to play the John Deere, they choose to.

LIV Players have to play every LIV event, no exceptions. If you miss you better be dying.

And who wouldn't want to play the John Deere.

You get to go play around driving a Combine and front end loaders. That would be a blast.

I had to haul hay the old fashioned way growing up.

A couple of hooks, good gloves and a sore back.

Actually they may not. Which is why there is a lawsuit

And they actually may which is why there is a response and a counter-claim to that lawsuit.

PGA had a monopoly and now don’t know how to compete.
