Nussmeier might improve with more real game playing time. I think Daniels is what he is and will not improve. Really appreciate what Daniels did when the line play was not good. It looks like Brian Kelly is fixing the line problem. Had no confidence in Daniels to see open receivers or to make accurate throws on time. Really hope that Nussmeier stays and Brian Kelly plays him more as he has the greater upside of the two quarterbacks.

I agree. I’m not saying he would have been better than JD this year. But every time we’ve seen him he’s come in tough spots and is just trying to make the most of his opportunities. And the WR aren’t used to the ball and stretching the field so it’s just a different feel for them and how well they play together.

No, he has no shot to improve but the guy who’s been starting for 4 years just needs more time to get better- JD fans

Imagine that. So more playing time can potentially allow a player to develop? What say you about 5's development? Has it arrested? Seems that way to me.

I mean how many more years does he need to prove he’s not changing?

There is no doubt. He throws a beautiful ball. I mean he throws a 40 yard pass on a rope.

Also, all this talk about him entering the transfer portal is concerning. A nightmare scenario would be Nuss transferring to Auburn under Huge Freeze. He would instantly make that team very competitive.

Both have the potential to improve. I don't buy the fact that at some point college age players are unable to improve further.

The question for all the quarterbacks is can they demonstrate consistency. Daniels has played great in some games but reverts to a more hesitant performance in others. Nussmeir looked bad in most of his appearances this year, then looked very good for a lot of his plays yesterday. Then he reverted and threw an interception and lost a fumble. We don't have any evidence to tell how Howard is.

I sincerely believe there is room for both of these guys. A healthy Daniels presents problems in short yardage and red zone offense because of his speed. No question in third and long who you would want to take the snap as he showed last night Nuss seems to throw the long ball with a great deal of accuracy. Daniels seems to see the receivers that turn and face him.

Nuss had zero practice time with the first receiver unit. Receivers were not used to balls arriving on time because they were thrown before the break.

Outcome of game was not at issue so Nuss pressed to hard because he knew this was his only chance

The first part is easy to explain you know that more playing time as the starter makes you better. If you are running with the ones in practice and taking the majority of the snaps to develop timing and chemistry with your WRs it makes you better. Real game success reinforces your play and chemistry with your teammates.

The second part I don't necessarily agree with. I believe Daniels can improve but by how much is the question. Is it enough to keep the starting position? IDK. That's what spring and fall camps are for, I guess.

In terms of Nuss I believe he can get much better with better pocket awareness. For example in the UGA games it seemed like he had some opportunity to step up into the pocket which would of led to higher percentage completion throws. The thing about Nuss is his arm talent is so good that he can make throws off his backfoot with success. The issue however, throws off his back foot are more risky and sometimes don't make it to his target.

Not sure if you can assume this was the case…JD was questionable to play all week.
Nuss’ approach has been the same anytime he’s entered a game;High Risk/High Reward…
CBK will decide whether he can rein in Nuss enough to protect the ball and defense while taking advantage of his skill set. If not, Nuss will transfer and we will ride with JD and Howard

There is some substance to making this argument, but JD has shown bright spots in first year with a new staff/system.

The concern is the regression after Bama, but I’m not ready to close the book on the kid. He looked like good JD for a half of SECCG.

Not sure if you went to school, but it deals with a concept called diminishing returns.

Maybe so yea . Don’t act like Daniels wasn’t seeing receivers in time yesterday. That’s really all I ask is to not act like he played bad
