Great concerts to Monroe-
Grand Funk, Elvis, Skynyrd, Three Dog Night, Ted Nugent at the Civic Center. Black Oak Arkansas.
NLU had some great bands at Spring Fever. Saw Harry Chaplin right before he died in a car accident.
I use to work parking at Civic Center
Good times

I was on his show. I had to make a radio work and was completing against another team also from Jack Hayes.

I also was the Mr Wonder show and had to make a radio work. We won but I don’t remember who we were competing against. I went to Lexington.

shite, now I'm going to be up half the night trying to remember who you are.
One of my favorite Gambio story was the one when he told the Wossman team he got had a message to relay to them from Coach Brown. He told his team the Neville players want to let them know their moms did a great job cleaning their houses that week. Gambio said his team kicked the shite out of Neville that year.
That man was nuts.

Gambino called me that big kid or Rusty Woods (my first name and I think Doug Woods dad's name mash up) for 3 years.
Had some epic halftime speeches - underclassmen sometimes he would send us out of gym to chew arse.
I can't remember who but was a good practice after we all partied. All they want to do is screwing and brewing at so and so land.
Before your time Jack (CYO coach,) did burgers before game. There were some complaints so he goes "y'all say jacks meat taste funny" everyone bust out laughing and he tells us to go to hell. Can't remember CYO coach last name but awesome dude.
Coach Thomas and Guerrero were fun too

I ran into Ray while he was coaching at St. Frederick right before playing Haynesville in a playoff game. I asked him if he had a chance. He said, "to win, we got a better chance of getting a kid killed." Haynesville crushed them, but he was hilarious, and nobody died.

frick that I was in that game and Bobby Ray Tell probably did kill a kid
You ever been in a locker room down 40 at half
A part of you dies
They had a DE that went on to back up at UGA first time someone was faster and stronger than me. Always faster lol
I blind side him first time touching him and he puts hand out to help him up and I just stand over him. He laughed at me rightfully so.

I honestly think you have to be from the 318 to really love Johnny's. Like it is in your DNA.
It’s this. I can taste it now. I think the pizza was actually average but to me, it tastes like going to eat is after our meetings on Monday and playing Buzz at the table. It tastes like the memory of ordering it while you were getting ready to go out and eating the leftovers cold for breakfast the next day. I miss it so much!

For such a small town, Monroe had a great bar scene and nightlife, then it was like they all closed down at once.
How can anyone say this and not mention The Siesta? Spent many nights getting blasted and listening to the one man bands at Chelsea's pub in Pecanland Mall as well. During the urban cowboy era, The Branding Iron and Jack Of Diamonds were the places to be.

Part of that was probably because I had it super frequently when track coaches had to feed us/I went hang out with friends from there

Wasnt there a seafood restaurant on 165 called Cock of the Walk? Believe it was late 80's or early 90's. My grandparents loved that place.

Yes. Not really seafood as much as a home cooking type place, but they had fried catfish and whatnot. It was in that building that has been numerous restaurants. Currently El Paso.
