Thursday was by far the best day IMO. Great local acts, Santana was good, the best weather.
Nice to see Buddy Guy at the main stage. Sure, he does the same jokes but still puts a smile on your face.

I think Ed Sheeran is talented, but I'm not really a fan. But our 10 year old son is. We've been taking him to JF since he was 2, but this is the first time that he was super pumped up about seeing a specific show. He stood out there in the rain and danced his arse off. Seeing him so happy and sing along to the music made me tear up. Some drunk dudes saw him dancing and were cheering him on yelling "Geaux Tigers!" (he was wearing an LSU hat) and he loved it. It was a great day.

We went to the Civic on Friday and Saw the Poppa Funk and Night Tripper show with Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Ian Neville, Jon Cleary, Nick Daniels, etc. Erica Falls opened, which wasn't on the bill, and then she came out for Aint No Use and kind of ruined the song, but besides that, fanfrickingtastic show.
Saturday night we went to Nola Brewing for the Jimi Hendrix funk tribute with Terence Higgins, Tony Hall, Jon Medeski, Boogie Long, and a really good steel guitarist that I didn't know. Was badass.
Sunday was the only day we went to the fest and we saw Zigaboo and his funk band, Bo Dallis and Wild Magnolias, Treme Brass Band, Radiators, Tab Benoit, and Herbie Hancock. Incredible day of music. Herbie and his band are just ridiculous. Bucket lister for me.
It was my gf's first time at the fest and she loved it. She was dazzled by the indians and the parades through the grounds. Can't wait until next year. Best party in the world.

Goose Night 2 at Daze Between is one of the best live shows I've seen in a bit (even if David Shaw did a Blind Melon song).

Tedeschi Trucks - Susan turned it in to snooze fest as expected. Luckily Susan let Derek play his guitar a little bit.

Not Jazz fest, but did Daze Between at Foubourg brewery on Wednesday last week.
George Porter Jr w/ a band
David Shaw w/ hybrid band of J & the causeways/revivalists from what I could tell
Goose closed it out both of the two nights, Night 2 brought on David Shaw and various others that had been playing, horns, etc.
Stayed by the main stage all day and caught all these from against the rail. Was nice to walk around, and even sit in at times, grass instead of the mud of the fair grounds.

Um...Ed Sheeran isn't cheap you idiot. He is creative. I've heard other people that have bands no where near as creative. The guy does pop up concerts on the streets of London, in the middle of us cities for free and is packed within minutes. But yeah you are right, he would need a band to stop being cheap. Some people have no idea how creative and unique looping can be. To take a bunch of sound effects and create a song from it with a guitar is impressive. He didn't reach the top by being cheap as you say.

Rads definitely know their lane and stay in it. They are great.

Mikey was well represented out there. I saw several silhouettes of him. Ready for the boys to come back to the fest.

Damn. I’ve never seen anyone melt this hard on the music board.
For the record, Keller Williams was doing the solo guitarist looping thing like 20 years ago.
Sheeran is talented, but let’s not pretend like he’s breaking new ground.
