I don’t remember anything specific about what happened. Or remember hearing anything about it. He just stopped playing weeks ago as far as I know

That’s what I thought I heard too. I just didn’t know if it was something they shut him down over. He’s not even talked about anymore, so was just curious.

Someone more familiar with the injury might chime in, but I read in another thread that it’s the same injury Josh Smith and Thatcher Hurd had, basically a stress fracture in his lower back. Only heals with rest.

He had back soreness 6 weeks ago
Was gonna be back next week for 4 weeks then it’s not even mentioned anymore

Never saw this
Was hoping he could play postseason but that doesn’t sound likely

Johnson doesn't offer much info on injuries, but the rumor mill is that he's out for the season.

Regarding Johnson’s tight lips on injuries. Not sure the advantage it gives. I think it’s his responsibility to fans to be more transparent. It’s baseball. It’s not like other teams are game planning against one guy.

Not that it means much, but I sat right by the bullpen for the NSU game and he caught for Bucknam. He looked pretty damn uncomfortable the entire time, constantly moving and adjusting like his back was hurting. Also didn’t help that Bucknam threw some pretty erratic balls.

the thread on the rules of losing the DH should Travinski go from DH to C as opposed to if Travinski goes from 1B to C, assumes that Neal is not available.

I get that Jay doesn't want to ever be forced to play Frey or Jones at catcher in an emergency situation like Bianco had to last year, but where is Neal? His presence changes the conversation. Does he even dress for games?

That'd be peak LSU this year: a catcher injures or re-injures his back trying to catch for our erratic bullpen.

I sit right in front of the bullpen every game and agree completely with this assessment. He has been dressed and catching in the bullpen every game but looks uncomfortable in the way he moves and throws. I guess the rest to heal the rumored "stress fracture" will have to come in the off-season as he is still active with the team currently.
