The umpire was calling the high pitch for both sides. Once you know his strike zone, you throw what he’s calling.

All I can say is calls were bad for both teams. The ump for that game was really bad.

Skenes was getting squeezed way more than Lindsey early in the game.
By the time Cooper came in, the zone widened to what Tenn pitchers were getting.
It was uneven pretty much the whole night which is just frustrating. It's one thing to argue balls and strikes when the zone is consistent, but it was all over the place for both teams. I don't know if it benefitted LSU or Tennessee more, which probably means it benefitted LSU more, but it wasn't that much more. Not to change the outcome of a 3 run game.

There were pitches from Skenes that were in the heart of the zone that were called balls and some clearly out that were called strikes. Same on the other side.
It's frustrating when the ump is inconsistent. The zone definitely widened as the game progressed.

We get angry every single game with umpiring, but we move on the next day.
Umpiring did not cost them that game. They got several questionable high and outside strike calls btw.

I believe we have the technology for an automated strike zone. It would save so much anger and frustration with the games.

That smirk Skenes made on that pitch to Denton was funny as hell. I laughed my arse off during the game when I saw it. I had to back it up for the wife because she couldn't figure out why I was laughing.

there would be a federal investigation into the home plate umpire.
LSU had three more runs than UT. Its wasnt that close of a game to claim the officiating was the issue.

He was inconsistent on high and away breaking balls.

That last punch out for Cooper would have melted this board down if it was the other way. That zone was horrendous and a prime example of why you need an electronic zone.

Fans that blame losing on officials are annoying and yes I include LSU fans when they do it.

Exactly. If a pitcher knows he will get a call off the edge of the plate, why wouldn’t he throw it there? Batters have to expect the same call and protect.

The calls were going the same for both sides.
While the Ump's strike zone was fairly Liberal, he was calling it both ways.
Had LSU lost the game then our fanbase would have been bitching the calls that went against us.....so i dont fault Tenn fans for doing the same.

I found the on -field calls to be perfect (after review). And I found the umpire to be maybe a bit worse than average to both teams disadvantage. Skenes threw some perfect strikes that were called balls and I cant remember who the LSU batter was but I laughed that they gave him a ball instead of a strike out. At best the umpires are hit or miss.

One of those posters isn't even a Tennessee fan.... Knoxville news at its finest!

The issue with the ump wasn't whether he was consistent for each team or called pitches off the plate strikes or not. The issue was he was wildly consistent on identical pitches. And he was like that for both teams.

Irony was the first base ump got the first call inexplicably right despite everyone thinking he was wrong, and then missed on the second which was corrected.
As for the home plate umpire, he was awful both ways and did nothing to favor one team. They ignore the multiple times he killed LSU at bats with horrid strike calls including multiple times with runners in scoring position. He also screwed Skeenes out of multiple real strikes with bad calls.
It went both ways so they have no right to complain.
I can’t even understand the complaints about the first base ump when he made one missed call and it was corrected.

Tennessee pitching got a lot of strike calls clearly off the plate by any measurement standard. It happened to a lesser degree with LSU pitching.
The Ump was not the best. The Ump kept the game closer than it should have been.
