you’re not wrong either. it’s very successful for those franchises. Those are perfect examples. 2k is another.
They sell millions of copies and pretend they care about their customer base when in reality they pay content creators to pretend they have some input into the product.
The current form of CoD is a bastard that almost no one wants, but it’s the only thing available. Think about it, what part of MW2 is good. Multiplayer? Warzone? The fans are furious about the state of both. Not to mention they lied about this being a 2 year game.
OG COD players want 3 lane maps, 6v6, where gun play is all that matters.
And that’s the sliver of hope this game represents. Also helps a lot of the ex-COD Developers are behind XDefiant. Including Mark Rubin, who is considered the mastermind of COD4 and MW2.

but go read his replies, he’s on Twitter every day answering questions and providing updates. On the other hand, you’ve got COD and Activision thinking they can spam tweet their way out of the current mess they are in, continuing to drive their fanbase further away.

XDefiant is a love letter to the arcade arena shooter! Is it a CoD-killer? Pfft....I have no idea. We're just trying to make a game that people can love for a long time. But it is up to all of you, the players, to make #XDefiant a success. Just wanted to share that thought. ??

R6 Siege is the best shooter to come out in fifteen years and it still hasn’t put a dip in COD.
Hell Let Loose on next gen is a thousand times better than COD
Six Days In Fallujah will be next gen and it’s going to shame COD
But guess what , COD is still selling at record numbers and will continue. Because people suck
