I know a big deal was made about him saying something after a big win. Just saw that he sought out Tanks right after the game and give him a bug hug and congratulated him. Pure class. Don’t care what anyone says. I think it was blown up by fans and if the team used it for motivation then that’s awesome. But he really seems like a good dude.

I’m sure they are all good dudes

But they like to dry hump each other shirtless so it makes it a little weird

They played high school ball together and it was Tanks that sought him out to check in him. He should have been silent regardless

They found each other after the game because they are friends. They grew up in Tampa together and have played ball with and against each other their whole life.

You have it backwards. White went to Minacci who was devastated on the mound. From the ESPN write-up.

quote:

White, while enveloped by teammates, spotted Minacci, still standing on the infield grass and about to be swallowed up by the team who'd just broken his black and gold-covered heart. The slugger left his LSU teammates, ran to Minacci, and threw his arms around him.

Turns out, they grew up together in the Tampa area. They have played baseball together and as rivals at every rung on the baseball ladder. They were youth league teammates. They traveled together. They went to sleepovers together. Their teams even shared a hotel this week in Omaha.

quote:

"Their season is over and it's a hard time. Cameron is one of my closest friends, so I didn't want him to be so upset. I just wanted to make sure he was OK," White said in the Charles Schwab Stadium tunnel, just within view of the Wake Forest fans who were being told it was time to leave. It was time for White and his teammates to leave, too. They have a title bout to prepare for.

Tanks said they had known each other forever and were friends. No matter it showed respect to me as well. WF’s catcher was also out there. Not sure if he was congratulating Tanks also but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt thats why he was there.

Well regardless, I still believe too much was made of the comment he made and he seems like a good guy.

He was another player from Tampa that Tanks had played with since they were kids. The 3 knew each other well from what I have read.

Well, of course too much was made of it. That’s what we do as fans. The kid was expressing confidence in himself and his team and the snip was likely taken a bit out of context. Again, that’s what we do as fans. I will say their coach is a complete class act, and it’s likely that his players follow suit.

You can be a good guy and still make a comment on the microphone that comes back to bite you. He's a kid, he'll learn from it.

They're friends. They (and Wake's catcher) grew up playing baseball together in Florida

If you listen to his entire interview where the, “We can’t be beat” comment was made, I think he was caught up in the moment. I can guarantee you he regrets making that comment today. I’m sure it will haunt him for a long time.

But nobody is saying he isn't a good guy. Only that he has to eat crow. Good guys sometimes have to eat crow and this is one of them.

probably not, mainly because of the over saturation of media “sound bytes”

It’s clear that Wake is a cult and Minacci likely wants out.

The stuff he said was taken out of context. They used a small clip from what he said and blew it up into something.
