No doubt my little Wexton’s going to be in that number - he’s only 9 but his exit velo is off the charts.

It could also be subconscious. It even happens in fantasy football/baseball. We tend to overvalue our initial assessment and are less likely to bail on high draft picks if they are disappointing. Humans may simply be deluding themselves rather than trying to delude others (save face).

I’m always impressed by guys who toil in the minors for years and eventually make a MLB roster and have a solid career.

JR Richard was the No. 2 pick. Had a cup of coffee two years later, then was sent back the minors to ride the bus for about 4 years before making it back to the Astros full time, where he kicked arse for 4 years before he had a health issue.
