not arguing your point but the shitshow will start today trust me. I do think you are correct about things being ok to travel beginning thursday.
Oh I agree a lot of people will freak out. Especially the people who have moved here since the pandemic in 2020 and aren't used to Hurricanes. I was just advising that this track is very very different than the Ian track last year. Orlando is expected right now to get 2 - 4 inches of rain which really isn't that much for this area. Ian by comparison last year dumped 30 - 40 inches in many areas of Orlando hence why you saw a lot of flooding by the major lakes in the area. Unless the track really changes Orlando won't get a big hit like with Ian last year where it almost went directly over us.
Knock on wood though I was out earlier this morning and everything was largely fine. The shitshow will really be as you get closer and closer to Tampa. I'm sure Tampa and Lakeland are both shitshows right now. I will say I went out Friday night and got some extra water, canned goods and batteries just in case. That way I don't have to deal with any craziness.
My biggest concern is gas. I'm at half full right now so not terrible but with the Citgo gas debacle (diesel being incorrectly listed as regular gasoline from what I saw) I'm hesitant to fill up.

If you're going to drive over for the game I would honestly almost either leave now so you get to Orlando before the storm really hits or wait until Thursday or Friday. I would definitely not be on I-10 or I-75 Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tampa airport closes midnight tonight and all air traffic ceases after 7:00am Tuesday. Should be open again by Wednesday night, though.

Just passed Tallahassee. Catching a bad band. Traffic slow

Just saw the radar, just two strong storm cells between Tallahassee and Live Oak on I-10. Not sure if they are caused by Idalia or just typical Florida pop up thunderstorms. Once you get past Live Oak you should be good. Probably a good decision to get out early since you were driving.
Just checked good maps as well and I-75 looks good from Lake City to the Florida Turnpike for you.

Well, I won't be driving an hour to Gainesville tomorrow or Wednesday because UF closes at noon Tuesday. Gas, ATM, grocery lines are long where I live. I do not want to travel anywhere. Happy at home.

Wednesday morning is when it hits at Luke 2am. You should be good to travel Friday morning.

Tampa airport closing at midnight. Better double check your flight

I’m over in Pinellas county in Palm Harbor. Gas is short, but we filled up the tank. I fully expect the game to be a go in Orlando. We already have an AirBnB booked. So I’ll either be there voluntarily or we’ll wash away and at least I’ll have the game to look forward to.

I chose a safer place. Gonna be at a camp in Theriot doing some fishing this weekend.

Already have put up my hurricane shutters and put away my lanai furniture. Mrs 45 was riding me to get it done

I have another Crusty Old Colonel friend who retired to Bradenton. He does a lot of work with the aquarium.
