Went there last Friday for lunch. I had the meatballs and spaghetti. Holy shot it was delicious. My wife had the seafood crepes and were just as tasty! I have dinner reservations this Saturday night for my wife, myself and daughter. I plan on getting some veal. Has anyone else been here? I’ll give this place a solid 4.8 out of five stars.

The food is typically quite good, but holy hell they need to update that place.

one of the better restaurants in Lafayette that people often forget about. Brian is a very talented chef and his menu items never disappoint. Most of his staff have been there for over 20 yrs. Great success story how some things are meant to happen. Brian needed a job in college, was hired as a busboy and dishwasher, then at age 22, he bought the restaurant. I eat at iMonelli 2-3 times per year, and always say that I need to come back more often.

I brought my wife there for our Senior prom in 1995. I don't think they've updated it since then except for the menu. The food is some of the best in the area no doubt.

No doubt about it. We had him cater our wedding and it was fantastic.
As for iMonelli, for some reason, it does often get left off of lists of best in Laf.

Why? Food is great! They are plenty busy. One of the best examples of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
For those of you who have been around Lafayette for a while....Do you remember when Marcellos was a hole in the wall down Johnston, past the Acadiana Mall (not in Time Plaza)? Anybody?

The oyster rockefeller soup is terrific

It feels super dated, and not just from an aesthetic perspective, but the whole experience. I'm not one to complain about slow service in general because I enjoy the social aspect of dining out but the service was absurdly slow last time I went.

Well kept secret in Lafayette food wise. Service can be borderline sometimes.

I have been eating there for more than 30 years, the past 21 when I am back in the US from living overseas. Before moving away, I guess 6-8 times per year.
Great food, especially veal & pasta dishes.
Sometimes would go only to get some drinks at the back bar.
Brian is a great guy!

Because it is broke, and they don't fix it.
Ate there 2 weeks ago. Food is very good. Service very good. Ambiance good. Pricing also good.
But before you sit down, take a look at your chairs and notice the torn upholstery (dim lighting helps to hide this), and tell me if this is acceptable in a restaurant of this caliber.
This is not to be equated with romanticizing an old mafia hangout.
Spending a little money on updating a few things like this would help to enhance the experience of one of Lafayette's locally owned gems.

Been around a few years. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. When it’s good not only don’t fix it but count your blessings and just be humble and kind.
