Saw some details of how CBK has been more involved with the Defense side of the ball. I’m thinking we see one of our best Defensive performances of the year.

What exactly did you hear? I’ve heard a few players say that he has been on that side of the ball since the Ole Piss loss. Mainly in the secondary. I also think he is coaching the defensive backs. I expect a lot of changes on that side of the ball.

As much as I hope our dbs play the game of their lives, I just can't conceive of how that can happen. Losing Wingo means even less pressure on milroe and even he can complete uncontested passes. I am envisioning a game like we played against Miss St two years ago with receivers running wide open behind our freshmen dbs and it was ugly. Offense could outscore bama, but this will be the best defense we will see all year, so not likely imo. Bama scores more than normal and LSU scores less than normal, 17 pt loss similar to FSU game unfortunately.
But GEAUX TIGERS!

I wish I had that optimism. Down our best D lineman and now forced to play CBs who should probably be redshirting is not a recipe for the best defensive game of the year.

Realistically we just have to hope they do just enough to give the offense a chance to win and maybe that Milroe makes a coupe of bad decisions to help our defense out.

If you are truly counting on the defense to be the main factor in an LSU win, I don’t see how you don’t end the night disappointed

Can he tell them to turn around and look for the ball? That might help.

I don’t think so.

This happened after Ole Piss.
That's why you saw improvements since then.

Kelly's background is on the defensive side of the ball despite the overwhelming majority believing he's an offensive guy.

He started out on defense, but he was also the offensive play caller for a few years at Notre Dame, so there is a reason people think of him as an offensive mind.

He is well-rounded.

I'm so tired of reading posts like this. Bama's offense is completely boom or bust. They are also very sloppy & self destruct at times. False starts, holding penalties, sacks, runs for little to no gain, Milroe inaccurately missing receivers, interceptions. Their offense is not a well oiled machine like it was under Bryce Young. Milroe is not a runner either. He only has 142 rushing yards on the season.

You think BK suddenly made our backups better than our starters in 2 weeks worth of practice?

Yes, he pulled a Belichick but you have to believe his passion is still on the side of the ball where he began at.

The secondary biggest issues were players being out of position & blowing assignments. Coaches are teachers so we will find out tonight if the pupils retained the information.

I mean the secondary had tons of issues. Being out of position, shitty tackling, just not being good enough in general. I just find it hard to believe that our backups conveniently surpassed our starters the same week that they became unavailable. I hope I’m wrong though

Kelly more involved in defense this week

For 10 MILLION/ year its about time he get off his butt, like Saban shouts and busts butt every week, and drive some defensive principles home cause this is a do or die game.

You do know those go in hand in hand, right? Being out of position creates poor tackling angles & better running/cut back lanes for offensive players.

What you are missing is that the secondary doesn't have to be 2011 great to win this game. The defense doesn't have to hold Bama to 6 points. They just need to make a few stops on 3rd down & redzone while letting the Tiger offense do it's thing.
