Assume 3 wins + respectable bowl win (like an Okla or Utah)

I said 8 because I really don’t have a strong feeling either way.

I do think we could finish top 10 for sure. That’s only 9 spots over 4 games.

And yes, I do think it matters a lot.

Our perception as a top flight program will be instrumental in attracting recruits, transfers, coaches, and booster/NIL $$$.

You feel that much of difference between an 8-4 or a 9-3 team for a potential recruit?

Sure who doesn’t want to win out but even with one more loss I don’t think it would be a dealbreaker for a potential recruit.

Maybe not just any game but the aTm or Florida game? Yes. Absolutely. We’re actively going against both of those schools for a lot of guys in FL LA & TX.

I think beating aTm could be the nail in the coffin for Jimbo, which could easily lead to a very Merry Flipmas.

I have never seen a thread where the first 3 posts are the thread-starter.

We’d have to win out and a lot of teams who should not lose would have to lose.

You’d think I wouldve just hit “edit”.

Hindsight being 20/20, probably should have.

But, let me tell you about how a three loss LSU could make the playoffs!

I'm not seeing how you figure we rise 10 spots. The only possible ranked win would be in a bowl game and it's not a guarantee we get a ranked opponent.

There’s a lot of big ticket games ahead of us, many teams ranked higher will have more losses before we get to bowl season:

Louisville
Penn St
Kansas
Utah
Missouri
Okla St
Oreg St
Ole Miss
Tennessee

All those teams will very likely drop at least one more (assuming we win out) we probably jump them all given our SOS. That would get us to 10 ish, and again before bowl season.

Winning out (including bowl) would get us to at least 10, almost certainly. 8 is probably the absolute ceiling.
