People say that a playoff reduces the importance of the regular season, but the an undefeated FSU gets left out for a relatively mediocre Bama because it’s Bama and Nick. Well, holy shite, talk about rendering the season meaningless!.

Texas beat Bama head to head so Texas could not have been left out in that same scenario.

Riddle me this then. Then why was FSU ranked ahead of Texas and then in their championship game beat a team that was ranked higher than the one Texas beat but got jumped?

If you say it was optics, then did FSU have a 99.9 % chance to lose a game like the other team that jumped them did the week before?

Which is it?

Shouldn’t have mattered. FSU should be in on merit.

The college football polls change every week depending on the performances of the various teams. It is not unusual at all to see a team with a more impressive win leapfrog another team that had an uninspiring win. Alabama had a very impressive win over #1 Georgia. FSU looked pedestrian beating #14(?) Louisville. The dynamics of the polls should not change just because it’s the last week of the season.

They beat everyone they played, were champions of the second toughest power 5 conference, and won that ACCCG with their 3rd string Qb nonetheless... There is literally nothing more they could have done. They deserve the opportunity to at least get to play "one of the 4 best teams" on the field.
quote:

your only argument is that they are undefeated
You forgot the ACC champions part. FSU has beaten every opponent theyve faced this year by at least a touchdown. Even their last 2 games without Jordan Travis were 2 score W's. They not only won the second toughest conference in college football, but they did so in a DOMINATE fashion. Why is Washington getting so much love and hype for their undefeated record? They have a couple really close wins against a perennially overhyped and overrated Oregon and suddenly everyone thinks their world beaters... WASH. barely beat a 5-7 WASH. ST., needed a last second miracle FG to escape losing; Bama lost a game AND needed an answered Hail Mary to avoid losing to a barely .500 Auburn, Texas lost a game AND needed OT vs Kansas St, AND barely got out of Fort Worth only winning by a FG... yet somehow people will still argue that those 3 teams are better than the team that went undefeated and didnt have a single opponent come within a Td of winning...

Probably not. But Unfortunately we’ll never get to find out.
We'll find out when UGA beats them. When that happens, will that end the lamentations over them not getting into the CFP?

The ACC is NOT the second toughest power 5 conference.

So many LSU fans taking the position against Alabama because, Alabama.

I guess LSU should have declined that 2 loss bid.

Georgia is probably one of the four best teams, why aren’t they in as well

Think about that question, consider the circumstances of their only loss, take what you already know about bias toward on particular program, and you have the answer to this question.

….along with commissioners from the Big10 and PAC12 conferences formed an alliance in April of 2021 that delayed the implementation of a 12 team College Football Playoff by one year. Were it not for their actions Florida State and seven other teams would be in the playoffs THIS YEAR. Their Alliance, like the PAC12, no longer exists

I’ve got a goldfish named Paul.

Oh…. I’m sorry. I thought we were saying dumb shite that has absolutely zero bearing on the situation.

Pardon me.

What merit? Going 13-0 against a schedule that went 71-70 combined is NOT merit for being one of the 4 best teams. It would be like giving credit to a 13 yo youth team for going 13-0 in a 10 yo league. Go figure.

Why pick on Washington even though they scheduled Tulsa and not LSU.

2nd toughest in my book, they’re the 2nd most successful conference in CFP. The only conference besides the SEC with multiple CFP championships…

FL was screwed. The reason being the committee was not going to leave an SEC team out of the playoffs.

Ponder this, if Georgia wins, FL state is in and Texas is out.

A lot of opinions on here. Many are of the OPINION Alabama is a better team than FSU and deserves to be in the playoff over FSU. Would they feel the same had Alabama lost to Auburn, which would have happened had Koy Moore not fumbled that punt? What was it about Alabama that was so good it caused Koy Moore to fumble? Alabama is the SAME team whether or not that fumble occurs. One scenario is they have 2 losses; other scenario happened. For all those people with the OPINION Alabama is better than FSU, would you take a 2-loss SEC champ Alabama over undefeated ACC champ FSU? Would the committee? OPINIONS are based on feelings. Records are based on facts. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

FSU will get smoked by Georgia and Bama will most likely win it all so the committee got it right.
