My daughter friends know him well in Austin, over at their house all the time, neighbors I think. They seem to like him fine

Weird story but we had a guy that worked for us. He used to hangout with a family that raced cars i believe. The guy was always hanging out at their house. He did not know who MM was. Well one day he showed up to the house and goes "who the frick are you" to MM. And MM ended up joking around with the guy. The guy never realized who he was hanging out with till he started telling the story to us and we were like you don't know who that is?

In 2006, Matthew ate at the Subway on Church St in Zachary, before attending the Live Oak-Zachary baseball game with John Chaney. He attended other events in Zachary too, including football games and stayed in a camper on the Chaney's property several times a year. Many sightings at the Subway. Matthew was also visible after Katrina, helping with clean-up.

Matthew owned a lot in Copper Mill too, but sold it before building a house there.

Why would he go to a high school baseball game?

McConaughey had a friend from Zachary , La- an older guy named Jon Chaney (Cheney?)- who was like a second father to MM after his father died.. i once hung out with him (the friend , not MM) and watched an LSU football game on the tv.. he had lots of stories about being on the road with MM and being his perosnal assistant, as well as a father figure.. im fairly certain he only told me a fraction of what he was allowed to say, but he was a good old dude .. Not sure if he’s still around .

Mr John Chaney passed away in July. He was very close to MM. He lived in Fennwood and MM would come visit fairly often.

Yes, I was at that game, was a playoff game or something. Me and my friend were standing behind the fence in RF and he was with Mr. John. They came about where we were and once the women figured out he was there he drew a crowd.

I saw Burt Reynolds and Sally Field at the Dollar Store in Mt. Home, Arkansas once, He liked to stay at a fishing resort over on Bull Shoals Reservoir and they were buying Sally a pain of flip flops.

That's all I got.

What happened to Zachary? Always thought it was a much better place to move than Denham or Gonzalez for those looking to leave the city.

Reminds me of when the Backstreet Boys gave a concert in the Bishop Sullivan High gym circa 1994. We were all into grunge and made fun of them. 5 years later they were huge.

His manager or someone like that used to live in Fennwood, I know because my wife grew up down the street from him.

My great aunt …Annie Norwood Fenn … owned all that property that became Fennwood .

More recently he lived in Nola while making a film. His kids were at Newman for a brief time.
