Early enough and we might have mutual friends.

Bienville Academy, 79. And yeah...you don't get more BFE than where we grew up. I went to countless basketball games at your school.

Didn't ever think I'd see the Spot in Lebeau mentioned here on a random Monday morning.

My father always claimed Rosa as his birth place. The whole family was displaced by the '71 flood though.

I grew up in Bienville Parish as well. Compared to the rest of the towns, Arcadia is doing really well.

I had to go to Arcadia for work a couple of months ago. I haven't been there since the 80's. You and I have a very different definition of what "doing really well" means.

As to the main topic of this thread. The first time I ate at Grayson's was probably around 1965. I thought it was the best BBQ ham sandwich I ever had but I was 5 so it was probably the first BBQ ham sandwich I ever had. The last time I ate there was around 82 and it didn't disappoint. Nice to know it's still there.

Pineville

That's where our parents always said crazy people went

Or we were going if we didn't act right

There is a long-term housing mental institution (euphemism for asylum) in Pineville.

During my residency, our genetics professor was doing a study to determine how many of these patients actually had congenital/chromosomal abnormalities, which turned out to be a lot.

Anyway, we were there during the day of 9/11. We didn't know what was going on, just that we needed to leave ASAP and not want to get trapped in an insane asylum.

In comparison to Gibsland, Bienville, Ringgold, Castor, Saline, and other even smaller villages, Arcadia is a thriving metropolis.

Never ever say the shite they call bbq in Louisiana is the best anywhere.

The BBQ cooked by the sweet old black woman at our local gas station beats tf out of king's palace in Memphis, I'll tell you that much.

Well Pineville hasn’t had an “insane asylum” for many years since Jindal shut em all down. Now most people that resided in the “asylum”, aka Central State hospital, live on the street. Thanks Piyush!
