I really like it. It's pretty soothing and beautiful graphics. Definitely echo that it is a very slow game right now. Rewards you for patience and not going hyper-growth. You will run out of food fast if you're not careful

Put in a few hours over the last few days and think it's a great start. A few things that took me like 4 unsuccessful playthroughs to realize (albeit anecdotally):

1) the backyard industry (exists - which I didn't realize at first ) is pretty important. I read somewhere that your burgage plots should be about the size of the logging camp. I tried that and it seems about right. If you use that size, you only have to build 3 burgage plots to house your initial settlers. You just have to add the second house "upgrade"

2) get some planks ASAP and upgrade your hitching post to get a 2nd ox. Makes building and timber hauling (also build this first or you will get yourself stuck with nothing else to build) much easier. I also get to about 40-50 planks and then re-assign that worker to other tasks

3) farming is for later in the game. I was so worried about food I kept building farms but they're actually pretty inefficient for feeding your people initially.

4) upgrade your burgages to level 2 when you can - this starts to generate "passive" regional wealth which can be used for trading

5) the trading post is more beneficial than I thought at first. Although, they did a patch and made this much more expensive. Pick a few items that you have a decent amount of and won't use (tools, is a good one) and trade most of them away. This opens up options to trade in additional resources that are tougher to get.

6) I also didn't notice that collecting herbs was an upgrade on the gathering hut (which I should have since that's a Banished mechanism) but don't forget to do that or your people will get sick.

You should 100% spend your starting money on 2 veggie plots (make them long and narrow with a burgage that supports 2 families, not just 1) and an extra hitching post/ox.

THE EXTRA OX AT THE START IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE. It will make things run soooooo much smoother on the front end.

You waiting too long, baw! You should have the 2nd ox before you even place down any houses.

And 40-50 planks? shite baw. I never have more than 10 saved. Have a burgage set on making the wooden gear to trade.

I stopped farming all together. Deep mine on iron + tool manufacturing trade and buy all the grain I need to make bread and sell the extra bread for profit.

It is flat out broken. The patch yesterday tried to address it, but it looks to still be the way to go.
