They get a surprising number of people to fall for it. They use the "Barbie movie is turning your kids trans" and stuff like that to make people believe their kids are being attacked so they have no choice but to fight back.
The crazies have a bigger voice online than they would have in your local bar.
It's also harder to laugh them out of the room.
