Why not? You don't like any of those herbs?
I can't stand them...I can put up with a little basil and oregano in red gravy for spaghetti but the other herbs are right up there with cilantro.
It must be genetic because my mother is the same way...they are too over powering IMO.

Interesting. I know about the cilantro aversions, but this is the first I've heard of folks having aversions to those other herbs. I love them all in appropriate dishes in appropriate amounts.

For example...I never use thyme, rosemary, or bay leaves...its NOT gonna happen. And thats why I think my cooking of certain dishes is superior.

I sometimes think I need to get me one of them alter things.
However if it only lasts about a day before being killed by the TD Cyber Crime Force Detail I guess I just need to stay who I am.
She will be missed.... I guess.

I know someone who will low key take a recipe off the interwebs, add one or two things, and then post a pic of what they cooked and the “new” recipe to social media saying “here’s my x recipe! It was great!!”
People are weird when it comes to recipes.

I'll gladly share anything and looks like the overwhelming majority here shares that sentiment. Oddly enough though in the What Dish Are You GOAT At thread I inquired about two dishes and got crickets

I'm not big on sharing recipes for a number of reasons, not because I'm selfish:
1. As I create a dish, I seldom write much down. I might go back later and note some ingredients.
2. a lot that makes the dish come out great is in the techniques and less in the ingredients. If the person asking is about my skill level and above, then I'll tell them what they want to know.
3. I don't use other's recipes except where precise measuring is important, such as baking, and even then I take some latitude.
4. Food is created out of farm ingredients, which vary greatly, that can make a huge difference. An onion that you buy can be very different than the one I used in the dish, even if the same variety.
A good example is my smoked salmon, I make it for parties frequently. It is a simple dish, the ingredients are salmon, pepper, soy sauce and dill. The big variable is the salmon, how thick is it? How many pounds? Then the equipment, is it the right smoker, what temperature? How many chips or pellets, what kind? If you cook salmon too long it becomes dry and inedible, can you judge that?
I always get requests for my smoked salmon recipe, and then complaints that the end up with pink building material.
Recipes can be very helpful for ideas, picking out the right ingredients, then they become a general guide.

She probably didn't cook it herself.
Not sharing a recipe for a casserole? That's pretty damn low.
Personally, I don't mind sharing any of my recipes. Problem is I don't have many of them written down. I learned from other friends and old relatives "live". Lately I have been trying to write a few down.
My only complaint is when they ask you for a recipe and then ask you again and again every damn time they want to cook it. Save it, DAMMIT!

Doesn't really bother me. You can go on-line to get more recipes than you can possibly look at or to u-tube and get videos of any type food you want to make and get step by step instructions. Give them a shot and tweak the recipe to fit your needs if it falls short of your expectations.
Personally, I give out any recipe I make when asked and have probably given out some of my recipes dozens of times over the years. Hell, I've posted plenty of them on this site for those that ask.

I wish I cooked something well enough for someone to ask me the recipe instead of them pulling up to the drive through after they leave my house

I knew a woman that brought a dirty rice side dish to Christmas every year.
It was obviously from Popeyes

Why doesn't Popeye's serve it any longer. I went there a few weeks ago and it was not an option for a side.

You should have stopped here^ and left it at that because the rest of your post just doesn't make sense.
You won't share a recipe because you think the person you're sharing it with isn't at your skill level. Really? Maybe if you shared the recipe with them, it would force them to learn a new technique and increase their skill level in the process.
The person you share a recipe with won't use the exact same ingredients that you'd use...who cares? Are you afraid they will share your recipe with someone else and blame it on you if the person they share it with isn't happy with how it comes out?
On to the salmon...If you write a proper, detailed recipe, the person using it shouldn't have to guess at how thick or heavy the salmon should be. They won't have to guess at what temp or wood chips/pellets to use. If they cook the salmon too long and dry it out, what difference does it make to you? You planning on eating with them?
If you simply get tired of explaining your recipe to the folks you share it with, write it in great detail as an email and then you can just send it to whoever asks.

I like giving out my recipes. I rarely expect them to be able to execute them the way I do anyway.
I cooked a big pot of jambalaya one time to bring to one of my in-laws birthday party with about 30 guests.
A few days later I get a call from said in-law asking for my recipe since they liked it so much so I tell them to get a pen and paper and I gave it to them step by step.
When done, she chimed in "I think instead of using ingredients x and y, I'll substitute this and that for it and instead of cooking it in these stages I'll do it another way that I like more".
When she finally stopped running her pie hole I asked her why she called me for my recipe in the first place if she's not going to use it the way I cook it since, in her words----"That was some great jambalaya".
Some people just can't help themselves I guess.

I feel the same way. I'll share 99% of my recipes. If the recipe is technique/ingredient sensitive or I don't have a "recipe" written down, I offer for them to come by and I'll show them exactly how to cook it.
There are a few recipes that are commercialized and I've been asked not to share and a few that I may commercialize one day... those I won't share.

All or your reasons suck. If someone asks just share. Don’t be a bitch.
