Has anyone summited Kilimanjaro, I booked a trip for late summer and am looking if anyone has any personal advice, especially concerning summit day. I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube videos and am going with a reputable tour company. I’ve done Everest base camp trek, so have some experience with high altitude trekking, but Kili is tougher than EBC, sometimes I question my sanity putting myself through these. Will also be doing a safari while I am there, so expect a trip report late summer.

I think you will make it.

Despite an age-limit of 10 years for a climbing permit, Keats Boyd from Los Angeles reached the summit on 21 January 2008 at the age of 7.[82] This record was equaled by Montannah Kenney from Texas in March 2018

he ran from Umbwe Gate to the top in 4 hours and 56 minutes and returned to the Mweka Gate at 1,630 m (5,350 ft) in a total time of 6 hours, 42 minutes and 24 seconds

Wheelchair user Bernard Goosen from South Africa scaled Kilimanjaro in six days in 2007. In 2012, Kyle Maynard who has no forearms or lower legs, crawled unassisted to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Seems there was a thread on this somewhere. Think the guy had a kid that did it.

I've started looking into doing this lately. Thinking about doing Meru as a acclimation hike first then Kilimanjaro.

I've done a 14er and a few 13ers. Altitude doesn't affect me much but I know things change as you age. 19k is no joke.

Haven't really nailed down any guides yet. Looks like there are many to choose from.
