What is the point of a truck that can't carry a load?

Lifestyle choice and to project something about the owner. 80% of trucks never tow or haul anything.

I dont understand why more hybrid trucks arent made.

Here you see a classic OTism in action.

This post has 100% positive ratio at 8 upvotes and 0 downvotes. In EV threads, hybrids are the biggest no brainer to ever exist and give you the best of both worlds. It's insane that more aren't being made and EVs are being shoved down our throats.

In a thread about a new vehicle that is hybrid only, the VAST majority of the responses will be shitting on the vehicle because it's a hybrid. If it's a thread about an update to an existing model, the VAST majority of the replies will be how the vehicle is now ruined because it is hybrid only.

Does towing cut down on gas mileage?

Let’s just say you go jog a mile.

Now let’s say you jog a mile with your fatass wife in a rickshaw you are pulling while you jog.

Which instance uses more e energy?

Or just buy an ICE vehicle if you plan to tow.
Until you can’t buy a new ICE vehicle any more.

It shouldn’t take an engineer’s explanation to understand that a battery is going to drain faster when you put a heavy sustained load on it.

I have literally zero idea why so many manufacturers are going all or nothing with electric.

Then car manufacturer will fail because of the EV mandates. Big Government will shift course and bail them out again.

We tow boats and loaded up trailers with our Chevy 2500. Mileage goes from 650 per tank to 350 miles. Don’t care. Looking forward to our destination.

Will treat our Cyber Truck the same. Have to hope for a charging station.

It's more than just the load. Anyone who's had physics knows that the effect of drag increases exponentially as speed increases.

FD = CDA(rU2/2)

We've towed our 8k lbs travel trailer across the country 5-6 times. Once we rented a small (5x8') travel trailer and did the same. The mileage decrease was essentially the same.

When towing up hill load is the bigger influence. When towing on flat ground, it's drag.

True. But I don’t mean load as in weight. I mean load as in current draw on the battery. Drag, speed, weight and resistance are all part of the current load that drains the batteries faster.

Gotcha. As I occasionally dabble in electronics, I should have figured that out. But in my defense, the term has two contexts here. You were talking about watts, and I was talking about weight...
