I don't agree that its unlikely. It appears that CMM is recruiting kids with a 3-4 year plan for them and they are aware of this plan before coming to school. This is evidenced by Tyrell Ward and Jalen Reid both sticking around for their 3rd year despite both being highly recruited out of HS and never being more than role players to this point. He also kept Mike Williams and Corey Chest despite one being a bench guy, the other being a redshirt, and neither looking to have a guarantee to start next season. Roster retention and development seem to be the key to success for CMM. Will it work? IDK. But if it fails, I think it'll be due to the guys he has not developing or being as good as he thought rather than them bailing in the portal.

That sounds great in practice, on 4/30/24. But if you are a guy going into you 3rd or 4th season on a team that hasn't had much success throughout the entire time you've been on it you may start to strongly consider your options. Especially if you are seeing guys transfer and have immediate success.

A 3-4 year plan is more stable in an era of open transferring. But at some point you have to show the players success will come from that approach. Hopefully that is this season. If so, it will pay dividends for McMahon. But if this is another very average, or worse, below average season, it's human nature for players/fans to start questioning if the coach will ever be able to have success here?

Its sounds great in practice based on the fact that the players he recruited are still on the team despite not playing or being role players.

Everything else you posted is your own opinion on how you would view the situation if you were a player. Actual results based on actual roster retention proves that the players are loyal to CMM. Is it possible that if we have a losing season that players will bolt? Sure. But the actions of the players he has recruited thus far make it more probable that they don't leave than they do.

Which leads back to my premise: If CMM fails at LSU it'll most likely be because the players he recruited and developed weren't as good as he hoped rather than people transferring out.

Hell, our fans started this before his first year was over.
