LSU may not have a true "block" center. But they do have size and length with all of the players mentioned. And quite frankly, LSU's offense has sucked the last two years with a "center". So I don't think there should be an absolute emphasis to sign one just to sign one if he isn't any good. Outside of a few games here and there, part of the issue last year was the emphasis on trying to run the offense (at times) through Baker...who wasn't efficient. Again, outside of a couple of games where Baker was hot shooting the ball, LSU was a better team overall with Dean on the floor. Dean really wasn't a "center". He was more of a PF. But LSU wasn't beholden to trying to run the offense through him. That allowed him to rim-run, attack the offensive glass, and play decent defense.

It appears clear that McMahon is trying to find a wing defender. The only thing that has been worse than LSU's offense over the past two years has been their defense. Ward's not a particularly great defender, and counting on true freshmen to be good defenders right out of HS is often a bad move. Once done, I think McMahon will likely try to find a center/PF. But I doubt it will be a guy who will be looked upon to be a high usage player.
