Michael Crichton Books

I just finished my first Michael Crichton book (Sphere). I’m now reading The Andromeda Strain.
Both books start quick, which I enjoy. Are the majority of his books this way?
A lot of stuff I read, sometimes it seems like nothing is really happening in the first third.

I read a spate of his books back in the day. Jurassic Park was great, Timeline was probably my favorite. It was the equivalent of a popcorn movie, and they made one from the book but the book was better.

Yeah, I've read Jurassic Park and Dragon Teeth. I have Andromeda Strain, but not gotten around to it.

Physically imposing dude that didn’t look like a writer-heard him speak at a book signing and he was very interesting and engaging.

Pirate Latitudes was fun
Micro started great but the ending was meh. Still an interesting violent take on Honey I Shrunk the kids.
I really enjoyed Timeline.

I always liked The Great Train Robbery, as it's based on a true story. Crichton's attempt to direct the movie, though, was bad -- one of Sean Connery's worst movies, in my opinion.
This novel starts very quickly and then goes back in time to tell the story from the beginning. But it's different, in that most of the novel is leading up to the robbery, which you already know is going to be successful.

Crichton was my first favorite author and holds a very special place in my head. I read Jurassic park in the 5th grade. I haven't read a book of his in years. This thread has me thinking he will be what I pick up next.

Jurassic Park was great but I wasn't a fan at all of The Lost World. Stopped halfway through. I enjoyed Congo as well. Wouldn't mind giving Sphere and Andromeda Strain a shot.
