I'm currently laptop shopping I can answer any questions or give suggestions.
So you want: reliability, and a number pad? Standard specs?
This HP at Best Buy would put you towards the top of consumer functionality for $1050. It's 17", which is big for me but seems like it fits what you want. Has a number pad.
16" Yoga last last gen and more mid stats, but its' $550 and should be fine.
I can look for more. The new Core Ultra processors are supposed to be a game changer and there are a lot of discounts on them.
