is that swing gonna allow him to stay healthy?
Who teaches the golf swing that is least stressful on the back?
I herniated L5-S1 30+ years ago. I am not an elite golfer by any stretch, but I need to increase my flexibility to help with my rotation. I stretch every morning and use ICE and TENS often. I can’t take advil due to being on a blood thinner.
I am limited, but I’m not making a living playing golf, just doing it for fun. I would like to get better.
I am considering a broomstick putter to see if my back pain might lessen. Sometimes I’ll get spasm over a put/chip that just almost brings me to my knees. Has anyone tried the broomstick putters?

Ive heard some people say that putting can cause back problems. I have no real idea the source. But i think anyone who has spent a lot of time on the practice greens has felt some back pain.
I have had lower back pain for years but last year i spent a good bit of time working to strengthen my core. I do some weighted exercises but a lot of walking and stretching through out the week. Every morning i do some rotational stretching. Almost 40 now and my back pain is gone.

Chris como is probably the most famous guy, has worked with Tiger and Jason Day. Day has been playing seemingly injury-free for years after his back problems but he had to completely change his swing. A big key is to actively drop your hands down on the downswing so you don’t have to use side bend to get the club down to the ball. Side bend and risk of future back problems best exemplified by Joaquin Niemann. Swings like Day, Rose, Aberg are good examples of swings that minimize it. Day and Rose rehearse the arm lowering before every shot if you notice
Zalatoris’ new swing still had some side bend in it and overall didn’t look that much different than his old one, which made me think this might happen. He’s going to have to make bigger changes.
