Because they're trying to hit a certain spot and not necessarily that exact yardage .. If I have a shot into a green at 200 yards I'm not hitting a club that flies that distance because if I catch a flyer and get 10 extra yards I may put myself in danger.. It all depends on firmness of green, slope , grain , dry or wet... A lot of factors play into a shot.. Not just oh I have 200 to the pin I need to hit my 200 club.. that's not smart golf
Right. But then that’s not accurate actual distances

When I or anyone thinks “what’s your distance”, it’s the distance of a stock shot with that club. Including knock downs etc etc is skewing data

Pretty sure I never mentioned knockdowns or hero'd shaped shots.. But more along the lines of regular shots with thins, fats, toes heals, course conditions, weather..etc... that's what I was referring to.. And pros are not immune from bad shots..

I mean you do know how averages work right?? It takes i to account of all tour pros.. Not just elite distance monsters like Rory who I think averaged something absurd like 325ish
