Prior to this summer the hole has been MUCH smaller with no other visible ground disturbance.
To determine if it’s an active vole tunnel system, put an apple slice on the hole and cover it with a bucket so other rodents/animals can’t get to it. Check back in a few days and if it’s gone, you have an active vole. You decide what to do next.

The skunk that is still hanging around our property is on a murderous killing spree. Cicadas are emerging right now, and it is catching them right before or as they emerge. I counted around 20 sets of wings under some trees yesterday. Skunks are messy diggers. Armadillos are precision.
