There’s no need to fit anyone into a trade exception. This would surely be a three team deal, and the ability for the Pels to give way less salary to a third team adds a lot of possibilities. The Hawks as an example have a lot of very expensive contracts and could definitely use some cost cutting. Not saying they would or wouldn’t do it, but turning Trae into Dyson Daniel’s, a bunch of picks and $40 million in savings could certainly change their direction.

It’s intriguing as far as the additional possibilities here.

My point with the TPE is “If we are taking the BI deal in a vacuum, we have to use the TPE. If we are doing a multi-team trade, all teams have to “touch” unless it is non-simultaneous.”

I don’t want us to get stuck with a huge TPE we can’t or won’t use in place of our 2nd best player. I would rather a player now to fill that slot.

I don't think the Pels would be interested in Trae at all. I think if we did a deal with the Hawks, it would center around Murray and maybe Okongwu.
