Obviously Houser changed things and there is nothing wrong with what it is now it’s just almost to clean.
I may be an anomaly because I like both Panic and Phish, prefer Panic and have seen them way more but Phish is a helluva good show.
Panic has changed the most over the years for obvious reasons.
I Understand what you mean about the clean description. Panic has been doing 3 night runs almost exclusively after CV19. They kinda hit great grove back in 22 and were on fire..dialed in and rocking.
It seems like JB tries to sing pretty or save his voice the 1st night. By 2nd set night 2 he starts getting that worn in growl, and then the never miss a Sunday show tends to be a rocker and a gritty JB
Jimmy has a much different sound and can shred but his sound is not unique, doesn't have the tone variety like Mikey, which is why they were so popular (not that this means Im right..
My 1st show was in 89 Nick in Bham 300+ since with 75% from 89- to Oak Mountain 2002. I've seen every iteration of the band, from bars, frat house to huge venues, festivals and etc.)
They still put on a rocking show every night but they will throw down a rager every 3-5 shows.
I suggest anyone who in the past thought they were a hippy type jam band go check them out for at least 2 nights in a row, no night is the same and their catalog is huge so you need give them 2 nights .
They can still scare away the hippies (a long standing joke)

I think they have found the groove that works consistently every night. Saw all 3 Halloween shows in Nola, and if you don’t go to all 3, you’re going to miss something you don’t know when the next time you’ll see it. Don’t listen to phish as much but I love you never know what they are going to play.
