I agree with OP but Abbott isn’t having APD arrest people because of what they are chanting but for remaining after being told to leave.

His word choices were poor in this instance.

Again, Abbott has done more than picked words poorly. Abbott issued an executive order that specifically allows universities to target “antisemitic” speech:

Include the definition of antisemitism, adopted by the State of Texas in Section 448.001 of the Texas Government Code, in university free speech policies to guide university personnel and students on what constitutes antisemitic speech.

The Texas code on “antisemitic” speech is so broadly worded that it can and will be used to quell legitimate criticism of the Israeli state.

• Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
• Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.

Anyone who denies this is denying how the autocrats in both parties operate when countering political opposition.

That’s obviously where the truth lies. No one is getting arrested for chanting, but they are being removed for illegally occupying a state university and disrupting students.
