Related - what’s with parents not having their kids open their gifts at the party anymore? I’ve been to 2 or 3 lately where we’ve brought a gift, the gift has been stashed to the side with all the others, and the mom says they’re gonna wait til they get home to open them. These are 4-6 year olds

This is by far the worst part of any kid party. Don’t make people watch your kid open gifts

So the kids have more time to play.

I just had my child do a thank you card for each gift after thanking his friend for the specific gift.

Been to a dozen or so parties these past few years. When you have the party at a public place, you have an allotted time to be there. Opening presents can take forever, and all of the kids automatically want to force the bday kid to open there’s, they all want to play w every toy, no matter how hard you try to control the madness 1/2 the toys end up open, and at the end you’re looking for all the parts and pieces

Parties at kids houses, they start ripping into the presents after cake and just add to the chaos that is already there

That’s rude. Same with wedding showers. Part of the fun is watching the guest open. Otherwise, it seems like a gift grab.
