We’re supposed to have a super swarm of cicadas this summer. Only happens every hundred years or something

Y'all are a bit ahead of us here in north AL emergence. Today was the first day they've really started trying to sing. It is usually a week or so after emergence really starts before they'll start to sing in chorus. Only the males sing to attract the females. Different broods that emerge in the same area can have different songs that some people can tell apart. I'm not one of those people, it all just sounds like racket to me.
