The article also says 40% of subscribers are women, which I doubt.
Back in the day of Ashley Madison, there were 37 million men who signed up. The website showed there were something like 15 million women who were also users. After the guys who hacked them to reveal the list of men, they did research into how many women were real and not just bots. It was like 0.1%. There were something like 1,500 to 3,000 actual real women on the site. Almost all 15 million female profiles were bots created by Ashley Madison programmers. They analyzed by showing how many women actually opened a message in their inbox.
"Newitz found that women checked their email messages very infrequently, while men checked theirs 13,585 times more often." 13,585x as often. Next time a guy tells you they pull a ton of hot chicks monthly, just reading this story tells me it's fake unless a celeb or famous athlete.
I don't get why so many men were on the website when the ratio was 10,000 to 1. Did they not think after a few months with no results it wasn't worth it?
