Power went out around 6pm last night. Came back on about 6:30am today. Freezer stayed shut. Fridge was opened a few times. I’m tossing leftovers, but what about milk, condiments, cheeses, vegetables, etc?

An overnight power outage? I’m not even thinking about that for a second.

This happened to my inlaws recently. Their chest freezer was out for a couple of days as they were away from their home. I went over with a probe thermometer and the quesiotnable food was temping around 39*F, even at the surface. FiL couldn't believe it. He was about to throw away the entire contents of the freezer. I cooked a bunch of the meat and vacuumed sealed it for them to use later. Some of the food in the very bottom was still frozen solid so they just left it alone.

For the refrigerator, hang a couple of these to monitor your air temperature.

Where do you live? I’ll come grab whatever you throw away.

Everything should be ok if you didn’t open it.

The freezer stuff is probably still frozen.
