ten or twelve team conferences are ideal.

I feel like we are just taking the long away around to get to this again

The conferences will be enormous and begin to be divided into regional pods that mostly play each other while playing a couple teams a year outside that pod. Essentially an nfl setup with to major conferences with smaller divisions within each (college divisions obviously be larger, 10-15 teams, so more teams in the divisions with more divisional games)

we are taking the long way to end up where we started, as we will slowly come to the realization that where we started was better

The question for me will be will certain pods become so powerful in viewership and success that they can break off with their own TV deals or have to great an influence. Will the large "conferences" be able to hold it together or will they fracture? If they fracture we are essentially exactly where we started with regional conferences. I suspect that years down the line they would fracture as the $$$ starts picking sides
