315lbs! That’s a big weight gain. Said he would like to play at 300 next year.
Sounds like bad weight if he’s trying to shed 15

Meh. Sounds to me like he really trusts his trainer and has probably worked with him daily for a while and the trainer probably knows him a lot better than Flint, where he's deficient strength-wise, etc..I'm sure they took LSU's plan and supplemented it to address where he may have been weaker. I'm sure their goal was to get him as strong as possible to be able to play in his 1st year against 21-year-old, 320 pound SEC OL.
But the diet is key. I doubt he has access to a really good nutrition program. Was probably just eating whatever. When he gets to Baton Rouge at the end of May and gets in the LSU strength and nutrition program for 2 months, then August training camp for a month, shedding 15 pounds will be nothing. In fact, it will probably be hard to ONLY shed 15 pounds. If we want him to play significant snaps, I'd rather him be 315 right now than 280. As long as is really working out really hard and gained a lot of strength and muscle under some fat, he'll be fine. Now, if he wasn't really training hard and just added weight, but not strength, then that would be a concern. But nothing in that interview lead me to believe that's the case.
And I also doubt that goal of wanting to play at 300 just came from him. I'm sure LSU, Flint, Davis all told him that's what they'd like him to play at. Again, assuming he's really been training hard and gained strength and muscle, but just ate bad because he didn't have the resources not to, he should be in a good spot.
Helluva job by Moscona in that interview fwiw btw.

Or he's growing into a man - concentrating on getting stronger and he put on more than expected now he going to shed some to keep his quickness
I saw a recent picture of him and he doesn't look like he has bad weight
