Because of his charisma Obama had the ability to get his crowd to wholly buy into whatever he was selling. But more importantly than that he was able to convince large swaths of the country to agree with him when the policies he was telling them about were going to be detrimental to them if they were listening with their head and not their heart. That's a good speaker / salesman no matter how much I disagreed with the guy.
